Tied Up

It is becoming increasingly trendy for women to don men's styles and put a feminine twist on it. One of my favorite examples of this lovely fad is the bow tie. The bow tie is like a "finisher-upper"; it's an extra accessory that really sets the outfit off and I love them! Pair a solid or a print tie with a crisp white button down or tuxedo shirt. Add a colorful (but solid and refined!) or black skirt or pants with a blazer if you choose and you have yourself an outfit. This look is very sleek and chic for a night on the town and sure make you look much more dapper than any man in the room. Enjoy.

Seeing Red

A Red lip is a must-have in my book. However, it is important to know that red is not a "one size fits all" kind of color. Just like each person is unique, the shade of red meant for your skin tone will be just as unique. Avoid looking clownish or even cheap (yikes!) by taking the time to figure out what works best for you.

Those with fairer skin tones should stick to cooler reds that have pink and orange undertones. These kinds of tones will ALWAYS stray far from red sticks with hints of blue in them. Your choice of red should not overpower your skin color. A red lip meant to be an accent for enhancing your already beautiful features, not claiming every piece of attention that comes your way.

For those with a darker complexion, stick to red with blue tones, not to be confused with dark red, however. Rich and deep reds will do you the most justice, if you're looking for a true red because they will give you that sophisticated but sexy look you're going for. Also, feel free to wear an orange-red lip too as the color will pop against your deeper skin color.

And for everything in between, from caramel to olive tones, your best friends are the reds with berry and brown undertones. Brick red is a perfect color for you. If you'd like to try some orange-reds, be cautious. For some it will work, and for others it will likely wash you out.

Midas Touch

Listening to my mother reminisce about her fabulous shoes from back in the day, it made me want....gold toe shoes. Well, they're back in style now and I'd love a pair! I just started liking gold accessories; prior to that I thought the color washed me out...silly me. Now gold is a staple in my wardrobe.
Shoes with a gold toe are a fun and still sophisticated way to dress up an outfit-casual or otherwise.
Pair them with a pair of cuffed jeans or a mini dress either way they'll make a statement.
Here are some lovely shoes with a little something special:

Louboutins may be just a dream for some, but these are nice to look at ;)

Designer Faves: Balmain

Olivier Rousteing is genius! The Balmain Spring 2012 collection is the French designer's first on the runway. The matador and cowboy inspired collection is spectacular. Each garment weighed heavily on embroidery and gold and occasionally incorporated some denim. But, the best part about the collection for me was the precise attention to detail. Gorgeous!

Pep Squad

I am quite happy to hear that the peplum is one trend that's sticking around, at least for a little while longer. Peplums can be simple or very dramatic, either way they can make any jacket, skirt, dress or shirt fun, flirty, and very feminine.
Just to give you a little history, the peplum comes from the Greek word peplos, which was a garment worn around the waist. It originated (in American culture) in the 1800s and lasted for bit; it later came back in the 40's and now is trending everywhere.
This fad is great for people like me who don't have much of a shape. I have small hips so an extra flair at the waist is perfect for me. They're also flattering for those with broad shoulders, pear shapes,

Stripes & Stars

What I'm craving right now is anything Chevron striped and wearable. I think what triggered my chevron lust this one T-Mobile commercial. I can't even pin point which one because as soon as I saw her dress I was hooked. I don't particularly care for pink, but if I could find the exact dress she, and when I say she I mean the T-Mobile commercial girl--she is just a lot faster to write, I'd wear the heck out of it. Sadly, since the dress was probably created just for her, I decided to see what else I could get my hands on.

Here are some finds all under $100!

In the Nude

I SWEAR that after I painted my nails with "Bubble Bath" by OPI I thought about writing a post on nude nails last night. I told myself that it would be the topic of my next post in the morning. Looks like FLARE magazine beat me to the punch. A nude nail never goes out of style. It's great for professional events and otherwise. It also goes with everything; you can never go wrong with a great peach, buff, or nude!

There were a lot of cute colors in the FLARE Magazine article. If you'd like to see Click Here.

Feelin' Lively

Blake Lively either has amazing taste or an excellent stylist. Every time I've seen her I find myself suddenly envying her outfit. Her ensambles seem effortlessly put together and are never over the top with accessories, color, or anything else. She keeps it chic and simple, spices it up with a statement piece or two and always looks good. If only I could trade closets with her! If only..

Love the skirt!
